Are You Eligible?

To apply for a V5 Funds logbook loan, you’ll generally need to:

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Have a UK bank account
  • Be the legal owner of the vehicle, with the V5C logbook in your name
  • Have little to no outstanding finance on the vehicle, and no other loan already secured against it
  • Have a road-legal vehicle — taxed, insured and with a valid MOT
  • Be able to provide proof of regular income to cover repayments

How Does a Logbook Loan Work?

A logbook loan is a loan secured against the value of your vehicle. Here’s what that means in practice:

  1. We hold your V5C registration document (the logbook) as security, and remain the legal owner of the vehicle until the loan is repaid in full.
  2. You stay the registered keeper throughout, so you keep driving the vehicle — you just can’t sell or modify it while the loan is active.
  3. Repayments are made weekly over the loan term — see our Loan Example page for exact figures.
  4. If you don’t keep up with repayments, we may repossess and sell the vehicle to recover the debt, and your credit rating will be affected.
